Ex-Baroka FC and Mamelodi Sundowns coach Thomas Nare has opened up on his move to Motsepe Foundation Championship side AmaTuks for the 2025/26 season.
Coach ‘Spaghetti’, as he’s popularly known, was unveiled by the Tshwane side over the weekend. Nare will serve as the club’s second assistant coach to head coach Kwanele Kopo. He will also work as the club’s goalkeeper coach.
The club also have Machete Moloto, who has been serving as the first assistant coach since the beginning of the current campaign.
As things stand, AmaTuks are placed 10th in the Motsepe Foundation Championship log standings with five points after five outings.
Nare served as the goalkeeper coach at Baroka and as a youth coach at Sundowns. In addition, he was part of the Mpumalanga Black Aces technical team before they gained promotion to the PSL in the 2012/13 season.
THOMAS NARE ON HOW THE AMATUKS MOVE CAME ABOUT
In an interview with this publication, Nare disclosed that coach Kopo reached out to him for help, as he is fully aware of his contributions in the coaching space.
“I was approached by AmaTuks coach Kwanele Kopo; he asked if I was keen to work with him, and I didn’t think twice about it. This will be the first time I work closely with him, but he knows me from the SAFA structures and the youth structures,” Nare told FARPost.
“When he was still working at the SuperSport United development side, I was working at Mamelodi Sundowns’ youth structures, so we used to play against each other more often.”

WHAT THOMAS NARE HOPE TO ACHIEVE WITH AMATUKS
Coach Nare went on to reveal what he hopes to achieve during his stay at AmaTuks. “Obviously, it’s a promotional league, you know, so we are hoping to win the league. However, we are not going to pressure ourselves,” he added.
“I think when coach Kopo approached me, he spoke with me about the top-eight finish, saying that if we could consolidate this season and secure a top-eight spot, then we would take it from there. But you know, the top-eight finish can be from position one to eight.”
AmaTuks’ next league assignment will be against Casric Stars on Saturday, 4 October. The match will take place at Tuks Stadium, with the kick-off set for 15:30.
