Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has named his final squad for the two crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Rwanda this month.
The Belgian mentor had announced a 45-member preliminary team for the World Cup qualifiers last week and has trimmed it to his final 23-man squad.
The squad announcement took place at the SABC television studios in Auckland Park on Thursday, 2 October 2025.
South Africa are set to lock horns with Zimbabwe in an away encounter at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. This showdown will take place on Friday, 10 October 2025. The kick-off is scheduled for 18:00.
Four days later, Broos’ charges will welcome Rwanda at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga. This clash will also start at 18:00.

South Africa are in Group C of the World Cup qualifiers alongside Benin, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, and Lesotho.
Bafana are currently placed second in the group with 14 points after eight matches. Broos’ boys are equal on points with the group leaders Benin. Goal difference separates the two nations.
This comes after South Africa were docked three points for fielding Teboho Mokoena, who was supposed to be suspended in their first-leg tie against Lesotho in March of this year.
MAMELODI SUNDOWNS AND ORLANDO PIRATES ARE WELL REPRESENTED
The final squad consists of a number of Mamelodi Sundowns players, with Bafana captain Ronwen Williams leading the list. Other players are Teboho Mokoena, Aubrey Modiba, Khuliso Mudau, Bathusi Aubaas, Thapelo Morena, and Iqraam Rayners.
Orlando Pirates is another team that is well represented, with players such as Sipho Mbule, Relebohile Mofokeng, and Nkosinathi Sibisi.
Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs have no representatives in the Bafana squad this time around.
