Bafana Bafana midfielder Neo Maema has opened up on the recent departure of his coach at Simba SC and fellow South African Fadlu Davids.

Davids unexpectedly left the club to join Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic alongside his entire technical staff.

The former Orlando Pirates coach played a key role in securing Maema and Rushine De Reuck for the Tanzanian giants. However, Davids surprisingly left the club before the Tanzanian league commenced.

WHAT NEO MAEMA MAKES OF FADLU DAVIDS’ SHOCK DEPARTURE AT SIMBA SC

Speaking on Radio 2000, the former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker acknowledged that, although he wanted to play under Davids, he understood the situation.

“Sometimes things don’t go the way that you want. But I think God has a plan for everything,” said Maema.

“Obviously, I have to accept the situation first, and when a new coach comes, I raise my hand and compete. It’s not even an issue for me.”

FORMER MAMELODI SUNDOWNS PLAYER DELIGHTED THAT THINGS HAVE TURNED WELL FOR HIS EX-COACH

“I would have loved to actually be coached by Fadlu because he is the one who actually believed in me and called me to go that side,” he said.

“Things didn’t go the way that he would have wanted. But I am happy for him because he also has a career as a coach. One cannot stand in front of that, but I am happy things are going well for him.

“But also the challenges that are in front, I don’t mind because I know it comes with a lot of hard work, and that’s why I chose to leave the country.”

In the two league games that Maema has featured for Simba, he provided an assist for his fellow countryman De Reuck during a 3-0 win over Namungo on Wednesday.
