Siwelele FC coach Lehlohonolo Seema has named the best centre-back pairing in the Betway Premiership. Seema, an elite defender during his heydays, did not flinch when picking the league’s number one central defence pairing.
The former Orlando Pirates captain spoke at a press conference previewing the upcoming Carling Knockout Cup Round of 16 matches. Interestingly, he will be coaching his current team against the Buccaneers, a club where he dedicated five years of his career.
Siwelele visit the Bucs at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday at 3PM. “I think Orlando Pirates is a team that is always doing very well,” Seema told the media.
“They’ve got a lot of quality players, and I don’t think there is much that you can say because I think their scouting system is doing a good job because the kind of players they acquire or they bring to the club, they fit exactly the style of play.”
Having played the Soweto giants and lost 1-0 recently, he expects to see a Bucs team that plays with speed upfront and “uses their width very well.”
WHICH CENTRE-BACK PAIRING DOES SEEMA RATE THE BEST IN THE LEAGUE

He also expects to face the most formidable central defensive partnership of Mbekezeli Mbokazi and Lebone Seema.
Together, the duo has conceded only four goals in all competitions. First, in the 2-1 loss to Marumo Gallants and two in the two-legged MTN8 draws against Mamelodi Sundowns. They have also achieved an impressive eight clean sheets while marshalling the defence.
“And maybe to mention the defence, the two centre-backs, I think at the moment they are the strongest centre-back pairing in the league. One of the strongest in the league. They are making a difference, and hence, the team, when they go forward, they can go with fluidity because they know that defensively, I think that is where I can say that there’s a huge change…”
Seema pointed out that the primary threat from their opponents on Saturday is the unpredictability of who might score, as any player can find the net. The team has scored a total of 23 goals in 14 games across all competitions.
Key players like Tshegofatso Mabasa, Oswin Appollis, Tshepang Moremi, and Kamogelo Sebelebele have all contributed goals.
Nevertheless, he assured that they will give their all this weekend to secure the results they desperately need.
