Arrows, TS Galaxy storm into Carling Knockout Cup quarters

Golden Arrows ahead of their match against Sekhukhune United

Golden Arrows FC and TS Galaxy stormed into the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-finals after beating Sekhukhune United and Orbit College FC on Saturday, respectively.

Abafana Bes’thende won 3-1 over Sekhukhune United, while TS Galaxy recorded a 1-0 win over Orbit College FC.

At the King Zwelithini Stadium, it was an evenly balanced affair in the first 30 minutes, as both sides, Arrows and Sekhukhune, created some good chances.

However, it was Babina Noko who created the better chances. At one moment, Keletso Makgalwa set-up Bradley Grobler, but the latter failed to beat Golden Arrows’ goalkeeper from close range.

Vusumzi Mncube also created another chance on the 37th minute, but again, Grobler could not convert from close range.

Grobler finally got it right on the stroke of half-time, after forcing the ball into the net from a low cross delivered by Makgalwa.

Though the ball hit Grobler’s arm before hitting the net, it counted as a goal. Golden Arrows remained focused, and they equalised in the 57th minute via Jerome Karlese.

Ayabulela Maxwele doubled Abafana Bes’thende’s goals in the 64th minute, and Ayanda Jiyane made it three in the 72nd minute. That was all they needed to progress to the next stage.

MEHDI OUAMRI POWERS TS GALAXY TO THE CARLING KNOCKOUT QUARTERS

Mehdi Ouamri scored the priceless goal as TS Galaxy knocked out Orbit College FC from the Carling Knockout Cup. And they progressed to the quarter-finals.

Both teams came into the match high in terms of confidence. However, it is TS Galaxy that enjoyed so much possession throughout the match.

But for the better part, Orbit College refused to be cowed into submission, forcing the match into extra time. And Ouamri’s goal proved to be the difference in a match that was played at the Olympia Park Stadium in Rustenburg.

In truth, Orbit College FC gave a good account of themselves, but it was not to be. Ouamri scored in the 112th minute to guide the Rockets to victory, as they continue with their decent 2025/26 season.

Puso Dithejane won the R100 000 Man of the Match award, as The Rockets picked a crucial cup win ahead of the upcoming FIFA break.
