Carling Knockout quarter-final matchups confirmed

The highly anticipated quarter-final draw for the Carling Knockout Cup has been concluded, confirming a set of fascinating fixtures that are sure to excite football fanatics across the country.

PSL confirmed the tournament’s last eight draw following the conclusion of the Round of 16 games on Sunday, 5 October 2025.

The big encounter of the quarter-finals will be Orlando Pirates against Magesi FC. The latter are the defending champions and eliminated the Buccaneers in the Last 16 of the competition last season with a 3-2 scoreline at Orlando Stadium.

The draw for the quarter-finals was conducted immediately after the AmaZulu FC and Magesi game, which was played at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. It was broadcast live on SuperSport Channel 202.

HOW THE CARLING KNOCKOUT CUP KICKED OFF?

The Last 16 matches started on Friday, 3 October, as Durban City FC advanced to the quarter-final. During a demanding match at Chatsworth Stadium, the KwaZulu-Natal side came out victorious against Polokwane City FC, winning 4-1 following a 120 tiresome minutes.

On Saturday, Pirates secured their spot in the quarter-finals by pulling off a late win, beating Siwelele FC 1-0 at Orlando Stadium. Later on that day, TS Galaxy handed the newly promoted Betway Premiership side Orbit College FC a 1-0 defeat at Olympia Park Stadium, whereas Golden Arrows got the better of Sekhukhune United 3-1 at home.

Meanwhile, in the last game on Saturday, Marumo Gallants also booked their spot in the Carling Knockout Cup Last eight following their 7-6 win on penalties over Mamelodi Sundowns at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. The game had ended 0-0 after extra time.

On Sunday, 5 October, Richards Bay FC humbled Chippa United by a 4-1 scoreline at uMhlathuze Sports Complex.

But the biggest upset of the Carling Knockout Round of 16 games came from the Cape Town Stadium. Stellenbosch FC defeated Kaizer Chiefs 5-4 on penalties. This came after both teams settled for a 0-0 draw after extra time.

The last game of the day saw Magesi FC earn a 3-2 hard-fought win over AmaZulu FC. This showpiece was played at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

The champion of the Carling Knockout will take home R6.85 million, while the second-place finisher will receive R2.85 million.
