Mamelodi Sundowns chairman Thlopie Motsepe and Kenneth Simmons, son of Kaizer Chiefs marketing director Jessica Motaung, are among those who have enrolled for the SAFA C coaching license.

The coaching course conducted by SAFA in Gauteng will run from Saturday, 4 October, until 11 October. It comprises 30 aspiring coaches.

Motsepe began his D License entry-level coaching badge, conducted by SAFA Ekurhuleni in 2023. At the time, he was joined by, among others, Kaitlin Hunt, the daughter of coach Gavin Hunt.

The pair were among 37 coaching aspirants who are attending the D License Coaching Course at Germiston Stadium.

Motsepe was lauded by SAFA President Danny Jordaan for what he said the course would give Motsepe insight into the technical aspect of the game.

Some of the familiar names on the list of the coaches who have enrolled for the C license include former Amakhosi and Namibia international goalkeeper Virgil Viries.

Viries, 36, has been without a club since parting ways with La Masia when they got relegated to the SAFA ABC Motsepe League in 2024. He had a stint at Kaizer Chiefs during the 2018/19 season.

Among others, during the SAFA C license, coaches receive training in player development for the 13–16 age group, focusing on coaching methods, basic tactics, and football concepts through theoretical lectures and practical sessions.
