Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has offered his explanation regarding the continuous absence of star players Thembinkosi Lorch and Bradley Grobler from his national team plans.
Lorch and Grobler have been consistent performers for Wydad Casablanca and Sekhukhune United, respectively. The veteran striker, Grobler, joined Sekhukhune in the off-season and has been in impressive form in the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.
Grobler signed with Babina Noko on a free transfer from SuperSport United, who have sold their top-flight status to Siwelele FC. The goal-poacher has scored eight goals already in the new season and provided one assist in 12 appearances across all competitions.
Grobler’s great form in front of goal has sparked debates amongst fans and football pundits about his possible inclusion in the national team.
Meanwhile, Lorch has had a positive start to the season in the Botola Pro with Wydad after scoring two goals and chipping in with one assist in four matches played.
The highly-rated winger joined the Moroccan giants on a permanent transfer from Mamelodi Sundowns after spending the second round of the previous season with the Red Castle on loan.
Lorch proved his ability to perform at the highest level after his dazzling displays in the FIFA Club World Cup against big clubs such as Manchester City and Juventus FC a few months.

Hugo Broos has argued that South Africa has a lot of quality players who can form three squads, revealing that he has to make his choices.
“Look, I will not answer these questions [about players’ omissions] anymore, not because I don’t want to, but because every selection you can mention players that are not there,” Broos said.
“I don’t like to give an explanation every time on why they are not there. You know that I make choices; I have to make choices. We have many good players now, and I can make two or three teams, so I have to make choices.
“So I’m very sorry, I’m not going to explain every time why Grobler is not there, and the other one. This is the selection and that’s it,” he added.
