Zimbabwe National Team goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze insists Bafana Bafana will not have it easy when the two nations meet in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Friday.
The two neighbours meet with South Africa with a place in next year’s tournament at stake.
On the other hand, the Warriors are at the bottom of the log with nothing to play for. But Chipezeze, who has been in great form at his Betway Premiership side Magesi FC, says they are not taking the game against Bafana Bafana lightly.
MAGESI FC GOALKEEPER INSISTS THEY WILL TAKE THE FIGHT TO BAFANA BAFANA
“It’s an opportunity for us because remember we are also preparing for the AFCON,โ said Chipezeze.
โWe are not taking these games lightly. In every qualifier we played, we tried to compete. So these two games that are coming up are also a chance for us to prepare well so that when we go to the tournament, we know where we are as a nation.
โSo it’s a good opportunity for us, starting with Bafana Bafana and Lesotho later. Like I said, we can’t take these games lightly,โ he added.

WHAT IT MEANS FOR ELVIS CHIPEZEZE TO RETURN TO THE NATIONAL TEAM
The 35-year-old also reflected on his return to the national team after a long time of being ignored.
“It’s a good opportunity because everyone loves to represent their nation. I am honoured to be part and parcel of the group that has been doing well. For me to be there it means I am learning every day. At the international level, you meet different kinds of people with different qualities and stuff like that. So it’s an opportunity for me to grow and to also improve my game.
โSo I am just grateful for the support. Without Magesi FC and helping me to achieve what I want as an individual, it is something that I will always be grateful for. The support that my Chairman, the boys are giving me is something that I will always cherish. For me to be representing my nation means that I will also be representing Magesi.โ
