Kaizer Chiefs secure date with Man United and Leeds

Kaizer Chiefs will face English giants Manchester United during the upcoming DStv Diski Challenge International Tour of the UK in November.

After winning the DDC title last season, Amakhosi earned themselves an 11-day tour which runs from November 25 to December 7. Last termโ€™s triumph was the first-ever time for the Soweto giants to lift this domestic competition for reserve teams of Betway Premiership sides.

It was a successful season which saw some Amakhosi players attracting transfer interest, including title-winning captain Ntandoyenkosi Nkosi who is now at TS Galaxy FC. Sihle Tati went to Motsepe Foundation Championship side Lerumo Lions FC after initially being linked with the Rockets, while goalkeeper Lungile Nkosi joined Milford FC.

Heading to the Botswana Premier League was centre-back Xolani Cossa is now on loan to Black Lions as Manqoba Ozoemena was wanted for a reunion by Arthur Zwane at AmaZulu, but a move did not materialise.

Other DDC players from last season are now with the first team like Thulani Mabaso, Naledi Hlongwane and Kabelo Nkgwesa who were all part of the pre-season tour of the Netherlands.

But Chiefs now prepare to travel to the UK where one of their opponents are Manchester United Under-21 side.

WHEN WILL CHIEFS FACE MAN UTD AND WHO ARE THEIR OTHER OPPONENTS?

โ€œKaizer Chiefs will depart for the United Kingdom on Tuesday, 25 November, arriving in Manchester the following day, where theyโ€™ll be based for most of the tour,โ€ read a statement.

โ€œTheir first fixture will be against Manchester United on Friday, 28 November, followed by a clash with Leeds United on Tuesday, 2 December. The tour will conclude in London with a final match against QPR U21 on Saturday, 6 December.ย 

โ€œIn addition to the matches, the tour will include academy exchange visits with Manchester United and Liverpool, offering invaluable knowledge-sharing opportunities. The team will also attend a Premier League fixture between Leeds United and Chelsea, and enjoy a day in London, including a visit to the Premier League offices.โ€

When Chiefs face QPR, the English side has one player who is familiar to Amakhosi players in Amajita defender Tylon Smith.
