Official: Chiefs and Nabi part ways

Nasreddine Nabi leaving Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs have officially confirmed that they have parted ways with their head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, bringing an end to a relationship that began in July 2024.

According to Amakhosi, the two parties reached an amicable decision to part ways after the coach was requested to step aside in the past few weeks.

The Tunisian mentor has been absent from all Chiefs activities after the club suffered a 3-1 defeat against Sekhukhune United at FNB Stadium in the Betway Premiership last month.

Chiefs made a shocking decision to sideline Nabi from the club following a reported broken trust between the two parties. The former Young Africans SC tactician arrived at the Soweto giants at the start of the previous season, renewing the hopes of Chiefs’ fans.

Nabi had a roller coaster ride in his first season at Chiefs after struggling for a consistent winning form, which saw them finish ninth on the league table last season.

However, the experienced coach ended the Chiefs’ long-standing trophy drought after clinching the 2025 Nedbank Cup with a 2-1 victory over Orlando Pirates in the final in May.

Nabi received backing from the club hierarchy to continue his project at Chiefs in the new season; however, a few months later, the relationship came to an end. The Naturena-based side announced the amicable separation with Nabi on Friday, 10 October, on their social media platforms.

“Kaizer Chiefs FC and head coach Nasreddine Nabi hereby confirm that, following constructive engagements, they have mutually agreed to conclude their professional relationship on an amicable basis. The parties recognise the importance of this decision being communicated in respectful and positive terms, reflecting the mutual regard maintained throughout their employment relationship,” Chiefs said in a statement.

“Kaizer Chiefs FC acknowledges and thanks coach Nabi for his contribution during his tenure with the club and extends best wishes for his continued success in future endeavours. Coach Nabi, in turn, conveys his appreciation to Kaizer Chiefs FC, its leadership, staff, players, and supporters for their commitment and support during his time at the club.”
