Orlando Pirates winger Tshepang Moremi has opened up about his early struggles at the club, revealing how teammate Patrick Maswanganyi played a key role in helping him navigate those difficult times.

Moremi is one of the new faces at the Buccaneers who signed a handful of quality players in preparation for the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.

The left-footed attacker joined Pirates from AmaZulu FC after impressing at the KZN side in the previous campaign. He made 31 appearances across all competitions for Usuthu, scoring four goals and providing seven assists.

Moremi’s ability to dribble past defenders and score goals caught the eyes of Pirates’ management as they aim to compete for major trophies.

Since joining Pirates, Moremi has netted five goals and chipped in with one assist. Before finding his best form at the Soweto giants, the 25-year-old faced a challenging reception from the club’s supporters, who were booing him early in the season.

The talented winger revealed that Patrick ‘Tito’ Maswanganyi provided comfort by telling him that the Pirates star himself had been subjected to the same fan booing at the club.

“After the incident [in Pirates’ first two Betway Premiership matches], the senior player who came to me is Tito. He told me that he also experienced the same thing from the supporters,” Moremi said on BucsCamp on Pirates TV.

“He told me not to take it to heart; it’s just a minor thing. They’re still going to love me when I score and make the team win; everything will be fine.

“So he told me that in life everyone has to go through certain stages, and everyone has their own stage and path. He encouraged me never to give up, assuring me that this will pass and that I will score plenty of goals and make the fans happy. That’s what he told me.”

The Bafana Bafana international went on to play a major role in securing Pirates’ fourth MTN8 title, scoring a brace in the final against Stellenbosch FC at Mbombela Stadium last month.
