Four PSL keepers to play key role in WC Group C qualifiers decider

Marcel Dandjinou celebrating after a World Cup qualifier for Benin

As three Group C national teams battle for a spot in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the spotlight will be on four PSL goalkeepers’ ability to play a key role on Tuesday.

Bafana Bafana will host Rwanda at the Mbombela Stadium, while Nigeria will take on Benin in Uyo, with both matches set to start at 18:00.

A win for Benin will secure them qualification for the first time in their history. South Africa, on the other hand, will be hoping that Benin drop points against the Super Eagles and that they beat “Amavubi” convincingly.

For Nigeria to qualify, they will have to beat “The Cheetahs” convincingly and hope Rwanda beats Bafana Bafana in Mbombela.

There is still a fight for the second position and a spot in the four best runners-up. The four teams from the CAF qualifiers will compete for a spot in the intercontinental play-off.

WHO ARE THE PSL-BASED GOALKEEPERS IN ACTION AT THE WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS ON TUESDAY

Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams will lead Bafana Bafana when they take on Rwanda in Mpumalanga.

Despite the recent criticism from the Nigerian football fraternity, Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is likely to be in goals when the Super Eagles take on Benin in Uyo.

Nwabali came under heavy scrutiny after he committed two blunders during the 2-1 win against Lesotho in Polokwane on Friday.

FIARCE NTWARI TO PLAY A KEY ROLE AGAINST BAFANA BAFANA IN MBOMBELA

Kaizer Chiefs’ goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari will lead the Rwanda defense against some of his PSL competitors when they face South Africa in Mbombela.

Another goalkeeper who is likely to be in action is Kruger United player Marcel Dandjinou.ย  Dandjinou, who is the current Benin number one goalkeeper, joined the Motsepe Foundation Championship side from now-defunct JDR Stars at the beginning of the season.

He has featured in seven of the nine World Cup qualifier matches for the West African nation.
