Mamelodi Sundowns star Thapelo Morena has outlined what Bafana Bafana must correct to save their 2026 FIFA World Cup dream as they lock horns with Rwanda in a must-win qualifier tie on Tuesday night.
South Africa are set to face Rwanda at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga. The highly anticipated clash between the two nations will start at 18:00.
Hugo Broos‘ troops head into this match facing significant pressure after they were unable to win against Zimbabwe on Friday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. The match ended with a scoreline of 0-0.
The goalless draw against the Warriors has subsequently negatively influenced Bafana’s prospects of qualifying for the World Cup tournament.
As things stand, leaders Benin are well-placed to secure their spot in the World Cup after collecting 17 points, whereas Bafana, who are in second place, have 15 points in Group C.

THAPELO MORENA ON WHAT BAFANA BAFANA NEED TO DO RIGHT AGAINST RWANDA
With Bafana desperately needing a victory against Rwanda, Morena revealed what they need to do right, citing the lack of killer instinct in front of goal as a problem they need to address.
He went on to state that he felt like they were rushing to make a decision in the final third against Zimbabwe, which ultimately cost them.
“What happened on Friday happened, and now we are fully focused on Tuesday’s game because it’s one of the games that is important for us. We definitely have to deliver and do our best to ensure that we get a positive result,” said Morena.
“To be honest, putting the word “under pressure” is what happened on Friday. We went into the Friday game focusing on getting the goal and trying our best to score, but we rushed our decisions. Everything was rushed, so I feel that’s the mindset we brought into the game.
“In this game, we are definitely going out guns blazing, but not too eager to get the goal. However, we will eventually score. This is one thing we do especially when we play at home, and we have the advantage because we know our fans are going to come out in numbers to support us. We also believe in everyone on the team and are putting in the hard work to ensure we do well in the final third.”
