Orbit star hoping to translate national team form to club level

Sekhoane Moerane addressing the media before the match against Nigeria

Following his inspiring displays during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier match against Nigeria last Friday, Lesotho captain Sekhoane Moerane is hoping his performances translate to his club, Orbit College FC.

Moerane was between the sticks when Lesotho lost 2-1 in the Group C match at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

Despite the loss, Likuena gave the performances of their lives and were unfortunate not to get anything from the match.

Moerane was also one of the players who impressed on the night with some brilliant saves. However, his form at the club level has not been the same.

He has not featured for the club since the 3-1 defeat to TS Galaxy in the Betway Premiership in August.

Speaking to journalists in Polokwane, Moerane admitted that he had a good match against the Super Eagles and hoped it would translate to club level.

“The game against Nigeria made me perform better compared to the last games,โ€ said Moerane. โ€œI also pray to god that he helps me to continue working hard even at my club.

“We learned a lot because we played against quality players who play abroad. So, I believe this has made us a good team for the future. I think we will be in good spirits for the upcoming competitions.โ€

Meanwhile, Lesotho will play their last match of the qualifiers against Zimbabwe at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Monday.
