Chiefs announce blackout for crucial CAF match

Kaizer Chiefs against Kabuscorp SCP

Kaizer Chiefs have announced a broadcast blackout for their crucial CAF Confederation Cup clash against AS Simba in Lubumbashi this weekend.

Amakhosi will face the DRC side in the first-leg of the Confederation Cup second preliminary round. Chiefs will lock horns with Simba away before welcoming them at the Dobsonville Stadium in the second leg the following week.

The Glamour Boys advanced to the second round of the Confederation Cup with an unconvincing 5-4 win on penalties against Kabuscorp SCP of Angola.

Chiefs made a return to continental football after winning the 2025 Nedbank Cup, edging out rivals Orlando Pirates in the final in May.

In the opening match of the 2025/26 season in CAF, Chiefs suffered a 1-0 defeat against Kabuscorp in Angola. They won the return leg at home with the same scoreline before the match was decided on penalties after ending 1-1 on aggregate.

The Soweto giants are gunning for an impressive showing after having an inconsistent run of form before the FIFA international break.

On the domestic front, Chiefs are winless in their last three matches in the Betway Premiership. They also crashed out of the 2025 Carling Knockout Cup with a 5-4 defeat on penalties against Stellenbosch FC.

The Soweto giants have also recently gone through coaching changes after the amicable parting ways with head coach Nasreddine Nabi. The Naturena-based outfit appointed Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef as interim coaches for the remainder of the current season.

With the coaches looking to return to winning ways, Chiefs have confirmed that there’s no broadcast of the match. “Please note that there is no confirmed TV or YouTube broadcast for Saturday’s game,” Chiefs said on social media on Thursday.

“The home team is not broadcasting the game; therefore, there is no feed for us to use for SABC and YouTube.”
