The Tshwane giants Mamelodi Sundowns have made a significant addition to their squad, snapping up a highly-rated SA junior international.
In the past transfer window, the Brazilians have taken a cautious approach after signing only a few players, as head coach Miguel Cardoso publicly admitted that he prefers a small squad.
Sundowns have signed Katlego ‘Tsiki’ Ntsabeleng, Nuno Santos, Fawaaz Basadien, Miguel Reisinho, and Aphelele Teto, who has been sent on loan to AmaTuks in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Meanwhile, Sundowns parted ways with a handful of first-team players as a decisive move to have a manageable squad for the 2025/26 season.
The reigning Betway Premiership champions cut ties with players such as Sipho Mbule, Rivaldo Coetzee, Sanele Tshabalala, Sifiso Ngobeni, Thabang Sibanyoni, Lebohang Maboe, Thembinkosi Lorch, Neo Maema, Rushine De Reuck, and Etiosa Ighodaro.
WHO IS THE SUNDOWNS’ NEW ADDITION?
In a bid to strengthen their goalkeeping department, Downs have moved swiftly to sign Lwandiso Radebe, formerly with SuperSport United. The 16-year-old came through the SuperSport development structures and established himself as one of the best young goalkeepers.

Radebe has been making steady growth in his career, featuring regularly for the SA U-17 squad and accumulating the much-needed international experience. The young shot stopper is likely to register for the Sundowns DStv Diski Challenge side before challenging for his place in the senior team.
Sundowns’ goalkeeping department in the first team currently has Ronwen Williams, Denis Onyango, Reyaad Pieterse, and Jody February.
Despite making calculated moves in the transfer window, Sundowns have had an inconsistent start to the new season after losing out on two domestic competitions.
Early in the campaign, Orlando Pirates knocked Sundowns out of the MTN8 semi-final. A few weeks ago, the 2016 CAF Champions League winners crashed out of the 2025 Carling Knockout Cup after losing 7-6 on penalties against Marumo Gallants in the Round of 16.
