Kaizer Chiefs attacking midfielder Lebohang Maboe has revealed what he aims to do for Amakhosi after recovering from his injury setback, with his debut imminent at the Soweto giants.

The 31-year-old is part of the 22-man squad that has travelled to the Democratic Republic of Congo for the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup Second Preliminary Round encounter against AS Simba.

The showdown between the two teams is set to take place on Saturday, 18 October. The kick-off is at 15:00, with the match being played at TP Mazembe Stadium.

The Soweto giants landed safely in Lubumbashi on Thursday afternoon. This will be the Glamour Boys’ second time locking horns with a DRC team in the CAF inter-club competition, as they previously battled it out against AS Vita in the first leg of the 2014 CAF Champions League Second Round, with the Amakhosi succumbing to a 3-2 loss on aggregate.

Chiefs secured their place in the 2025/26 Confederation Cup Second Preliminary Stage by overcoming Angolan opponents Kabuscorp SCP. After a 1-0 second-leg victory at FNB Stadium brought the aggregate score to 1-1, Chiefs dramatically won the tie 5-4 on penalties.

WHAT LEBOHANG MABOE PROMISES TO DELIVER AFTER INJURY RETURN

The former Mamelodi Sundowns star disclosed that he wants to leave everything on the field of play, share his continental experience with his teammates, and fight for the badge if given a chance to play on Saturday.

Maboe, who is happy to have travelled with the team to the DRC, missed the tournament’s first-round clashes against Kabuscorp due to registration deadlines.

โ€œIโ€™m happy that Iโ€™m back from injury and I’m planning to work hard to catch up with the rest of the guys who have been active,” said Maboe.

“Iโ€™m energised and ready to give it my all if given a chance, but will also share my experiences with my teammates to ensure we advance to the group stages.โ€
