Magesi FC head coach John Maduka has reacted to former Orlando Pirates midfielder Nkanyiso Zungu’s Man of the Match display following Dikwena Tsa Meetse’s 2-1 win over TS Galaxy on Saturday night.

The Betway Premiership tie between Dikwena Tsa Meetse and the Rockets took place at the Seshego Stadium, just outside Polokwane.

Galaxy were the first team to open the scoring in the 65th minute of the showdown through Seluleko Mahlambi. However, Lehlogonolo Mokone found the equaliser six minutes after the restart, thanks to Zungu’s assist.

Former Mamelodi Sundowns frontman Thabang Sibanyoni scored the winning goal for the Limpopo club nine minutes before the final whistle could be blown.

Zungu’s stellar performance in this showpiece earned him the Man of the Match accolade, having played the entire match and provided an assist.

The talented midfielder’s career has been troubled by off-field problems that resulted in his departure from teams like Pirates and Richards Bay FC. However, the player has owned up to his past mistakes and is eager to correct them as well as play his best football.

JOHN MADUKA SINGS NKANYISO ZUNGU’S PRAISES

In a post-match interview, Maduka was full of praise for the 29-year-old midfielder, stating that he is focused on his work, and they can only hope he continues his fine form.

“I’m very, very happy with him. You know he can play with the ball and also defend,” said Maduka.

“He works so hard; you can see him in the midfield, trying to make us play and take the set pieces as well. He is one of the players who is trying to give us those different options.

“So, he is doing well and is focused on his game. We just pray that he continues doing what he is doing at the moment.”

So far, Zungu has featured in 10 games out of the 11 matches played by the 2024/25 Carling Knockout Cup champions in the current season.
