Motsepe Foundation Championship side Baroka FC has placed head coach Dan Malesela and his assistant Job Maphutha under suspension with immediate effect.

The suspension follows the recent league peformances, where Baroka have not won in the last five matches. The latest result was a 2-0 loss suffered at the hands of University of Pretoria at the Mafori Stadium in Lebowakgomo on Saturday.

Before that, Baroka lost 2-0 to Milford FC also at home, suffered a 2-1 defeat to the newly promoted side Gomora United, drew 1-1 with Casric Stars and suffered a 1-0 loss to Highbury FC.

MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP SIDE NOT PLEASED WITH RESULTS

This publication has gathered that Malesela and his technical team were summoned to a meeting on Sunday, a day after the loss to AmaTuks. They were officially issued with letters of suspension on Monday.

They are due to go through a disciplinary process before the club makes a final decision. This also means Malesela will not be in charge when Baroka resume with their training sessions on Monday afternoon.

DAN MALESELA AS GOOD AS GONE AT BAROKA FC AFTER SUSPENSION?

This is not the first time Malesela has been suspended by the club after a โ€˜falloutโ€™ with the club. The 60-year-old was placed under suspension and eventually dismissed after just one match in the PSL promotion playoffs in 2024. He was replaced by administrator-turned-coach Coach Morgan Mmamila at the time.

Malesela returned to the club before the end of last season with eight matches to go. Despite finishing in eighth position, Malesela was retained by the club ahead of the current season.

This publication has gathered that the relationship between Malesela and the club could be as good as done pending the finalisation of the DC process.
