Former PSL title winner Phumlani Ntshangase has been spotted at a new club, Summerfield Dynamos, in the SAFA KwaZulu-Natal ABC Motsepe League.

The ex-Bidvest Wits midfielder was in action for Summerfield during their 0-0 draw in the Motsepe League [Stream A] tie against Njampela FC on Friday, 17 October, at SJ Smith Stadium in Mobeni, Durban.

Ntshangase has been without a club since October 2024 following his unpleasant departure from the Motsepe Foundation Championship side, Highbury FC.

This came after things took a turn after the fifth game, when the team had yet to secure a win. In an exclusive interview with FARPost after his departure at Highbury, Ntshangase revealed that he had a meeting with the club’s hierarchy, where concerns were raised about the team’s displays, and he was let go by the club as they claimed not to be satisfied with his performance. However, he felt that wasn’t the case because the coach had applauded his performances in the first three games that he featured for the club.

The 30-year-old was released by the Eastern Cape club just five games into the 2024/25 season, alongside former SuperSport United frontman Thabiso Nkoana and Mamelodi Sundowns product Abram Ngcobo.

Ntshangase’s acquisition by the amateur side is expected to come in handy, as it will add much-needed experience in the middle of the park. He was part of the Wits team that won its first PSL title victory during the 2016/17 season.

FORMER KAIZER CHIEFS AND RICHARDS BAY FC STRIKER RESURFACES SUMMERFIELD DYNAMOS

Meanwhile, former Kaizer Chiefs and Richards Bay FC forward Sakhile Hlongwa has also resurfaced at Summerfield, intending to revive his football career.

The experience of Ntshangase and Hlongwa is expected to help the team challenge for the league title and qualify for the SAFA ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs, to gain promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

As things stand, Summerfield are placed seventh in Stream A of their provincial ABC Motsepe League table, with five points from four outings. They are just five points behind stream leaders Umvoti FC.
