With Siwelele FC set for a crunch Betway Premiership clash with Kaizer Chiefs, co-coach Cedric Kaze has shed light on whether Samkelo Zwane and Happy Mashiane are eligible to face their parent club.

Amakhosi will welcome Siwelele at FNB Stadium on Wednesday night in the league after participating in the CAF Confederation Cup this past weekend.

Kaze’s troops settled for a goalless draw against AS Simba in Lubumbashi in the first-leg of the Confederation Cup Second Preliminary Round. After the tough encounter at the TP Mazembe Stadium in the DRC, Chiefs are shifting their focus to the league action against Siwelele.

The Glamour Boys are gunning for maximum points against the Bloemfontein-based side, aiming to end their winless run in the last two matches in the Premiership.

In their most recent league games, Chiefs have lost against Sekhukhune United and played to a stalemate against Marumo Gallants. Meanwhile, the Naturena-based side has also been knocked out of the Carling Knockout Cup Last 16 after losing 5-4 on penalties against Stellenbosch FC.

Kaze says Zwane and Mashiane who joined Siwelele on season-long loan deals on the deadline day of the previous transfer window will face Chiefs because they want them to grown.

“We are monitoring their progress because we have a right on them and as coaches we need to monitor their progress to see what we want to do with them next season,” Kaze said.

“On the contrary of other teams that loan players and they don’t allow them to play against the team, we allowed them to play because we want to see them on the field, improve, and get better for us.”

The duo who came through Chiefs’ development structures are eligible to face their parent club, something that is unusual among PSL clubs. In recent times, several teams in the SA top-flight established a contract clause that prohibits on loan players from facing their own clubs.

Since arriving at Siwelele, Zwane has featured in three appearances across all competitions, while Mashiane has played one game as a second-half substitute.
