Magesi FC head coach John Maduka has provided an update on the injury of club captain, Elvis Chipezeze, ahead of their Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final tie against Orlando Pirates.
Dikwena Tsa Meetse are set to lock horns with the Soweto giants on Tuesday, 28 October, at Orlando Stadium in Soweto. The kick-off for this showdown is scheduled for 19:00.
The Limpopo club will be hoping to reciprocate last season’s performance when they pulled off an upset against Pirates, eliminating them in the tournament’s Round of 16 following their 3-2 win over the Buccaneers on their own turf.
Chipezeze was seen limping during Magesi’s Betway Premiership encounter against TS Galaxy this past Saturday at Seshego Stadium outside Polokwane. The match ended with a scoreline of 2-1 in favour of Magesi.
The Zimbabwean international left the pitch seemingly injured, raising concerns about his availability for their upcoming game.

WHAT MAGESI FC COACH JOHN MADUKA SAID ABOUT ELVIS CHIPEZEZE’S INJURY
Maduka confirmed that Chipezeze did not suffer a serious injury and should be ready to play against the Abdeslam Ouaddou-coached side next week.
This positive update will bring relief among Magesi fans ahead of the much-awaited showdown with Pirates, as Maduka’s boys are keen to defend their Carling Knockout title, which they won when they defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in the final at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein last campaign.
“He should be okay because we have at least 10 days before we play Orlando Pirates in the Carling Knockout Cup,” said Maduka.
“So, I think there is still enough time for him to recover. We are looking forward to the coming game.”
Magesi progressed to the Carling Knockout quarter-finals after securing a 3-2 win over AmaZulu FC away from home, while Pirates beat Siwelele FC 1-0 at home earlier this month.
