Kaizer Chiefs played to a 0-0 draw against struggling Siwelele FC in a Betway Premiership match at FNB Stadium in Soweto on Wednesday evening. Indeed, it was a tense game where Kaizer Chiefs drew against Siwelele FC.

Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Etiosa Ighodaro finally made his debut for Amakhosi after joining the club in August.

Ighodaro was preferred ahead of Khanyisa Mayo, who started the match on the bench. Fellow new signing Lebohang Maboe also made the match-day squad for the home side.

Chiefs carved out the match’s first significant opportunity in the 13th minute. Mfundo Vilakazi delivered a crisp pass that put Mduduzi Shabalala through on goal inside the box. However, the Siwelele defense showed great recovery speed, swarming Shabalala to intercept the ball and defuse the promising Amakhosi attack.

Four minutes later, Siwelele nearly found the lead through Chibuike Ohizu after he was left one-on-one with Brandon Petersen. His low shot was saved by the Amakhosi goalie, continuing the trend of Chiefs drawing against teams like Siwelele FC.

RICARDO GOSS PRODUCES WORLD-CALL SAVES TO STOP CHIEFS FROM SCORING

Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Ricardo Goss produced a world-class save to deny Shabalala after his stunning shot looked destined for goal, 20 minutes into play.

Three minutes later, a clever shot from Vincent Pule nearly caught Petersen off-guard after he had anticipated a cross. The two teams went to the half-time break at 0-0 after failing to break the deadlock.

KAIZER CHIEFS FAIL TO CONVERT SCORING CHANCES DESPITE MANY ATTEMPTS

Chiefs continued where they had left off in the first half, piling more pressure on the visitors.

Zitha Kwinika came close four minutes into the second half, but his attempt went over the bar. Goss produced another brilliant stop to deny Shabalala after a one-on-one situation in the 54th minute, leaving fans disappointed by the Kaizer Chiefs’ draw against Siwelele FC.

The Soweto giants were on top and created more chances towards the end of the match, but were wasteful and, in the process, settled for a single point at home.

They remain fourth on the log with 16 points from their nine matches, while Siwelele are still rooted second from bottom, having secured a draw in their match against Kaizer Chiefs.
