Former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Thamsanqa Sangweni has cut ties with SAFA KZN ABC Motsepe League side Dlangezwa Hellenic FC, just two weeks after signing with the club.
The 36-year-old was unveiled by the amateur side a fortnight ago. “We would like to announce the signing of Thamsanqa Sangweni. Welcome to the Kwa Dlangezwa Hellenic Family,” said the club in a statement released on 7 October 2025.
The defensive midfielder joined Hellenic from Mkhambathi FC, which is also competing in the KZN third-tier league.
Sangweni’s PSL experience was expected to add value to Hellenic’s midfield options and help them challenge for the league title and qualify for the SAFA ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs, with the aim of gaining promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship next season.
Over the past few years, the ex-Chippa United man, who is the brother of Golden Arrows and Pirates legend Siyabonga Sangweni, has also represented teams such as BCM Stars, Peace Makers, and Msinga United in the ABC Motsepe League.
Meanwhile, in the South African top-flight, he has also turned out for clubs such as AmaZulu FC, Maritzburg United, Richards Bay FC, and Ajax Cape Town.
