Thamsanqa Sangweni has quickly found a new home. Just days after parting ways with Dlangezwa Hellenic FC, Sangweni has resurfaced at Gqeberha United, FARPost can confirm.
This comes after Hellenic confirmed that they had parted ways with the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates midfielder Sangweni on a mutual agreement on Wednesday, 22 October, just two weeks after signing with the club.
The reason for the 36-year-old’s departure from the KZN side was influenced by the exit of head coach Thobela Bikwane, who also left along with his assistant coach, Bonny Face.
Gqeberha United is an amateur outfit participating in the Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe League. They are in the Coastal Stream for the 2025/26 season. Gqeberha United will be competing against teams such as Buffalo City Relatives, Komani United, Amavarara, Emi FC, Old Grey, Makana Rhini United, Camdeboo Football Academy Development, Sundays River Valley Academy, and Seven Stars.
THAMSANQA SANGWENI ASSESSED BY GQEBERHA UNITED
This publication has it on good authority that the former Chippa United man is currently being assessed by Gqeberha United, with the hope of securing a deal with the club.

FARPost can further reveal that Sangweni started training with the Eastern Cape club on Tuesday, 21 October 2025.
Thamsanqa, who is the brother of Golden Arrows and Pirates legend Siyabonga Sangweni, is no stranger to the South African third tier, having previously represented teams such as BCM Stars, Peace Makers, Msinga United, and, most recently, Dlangweza Hellenic.
Meanwhile, in the PSL, he has also stints with clubs like AmaZulu FC, Maritzburg United, Richards Bay FC, and Ajax Cape Town.
Sangweni’s experience from the South African football top-flight is expected to add the much-needed value to Gqeberha United in the midfield and help them challenge for the league title, with the aim of gaining promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship next campaign.
