Marumo Gallants striker Jaisen Clifford is aiming high, declaring that his international experience could be an invaluable catalyst for Bafana Bafana’s success.

Having made a name for himself in European leagues, Clifford believes his skills and expertise would be a valuable asset to Hugo Broos‘ team.

In addition, the 29-year-old has scored twice in ten Betway Premiership matches for Gallants. He rose through the ranks of SuperSport United before taking his talent to Europe. Additionally, he played in Portugal, Malta, Bulgaria, and Lithuania.

He recently returned to the PSL, joining Gallants and snubbing a move to Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates. With his sights firmly set on Bafana Bafana, Clifford remains focused on delivering consistent performances for Gallants. In addition, he is hoping to make a strong case for his inclusion in the national squad.

JAISEN CLIFFORD’S SOLE AMBITION IN SOUTH AFRICAN FOOTBALL

Clifford’s ambition to don the national team’s colors is palpable, as he outlines his desire to be part of the Bafana Bafana squad ahead of the upcoming 2025 AFCON.

“I’ve always wanted to play for the national team,” Clifford told FARPost. “The current squad of the national team is comprised of the best players in the country.

“I’m sure I should be a part of them. I’m one of them. I respect all those players and I think they’re all very good, but I do think I deserve to be a part of them.

“Obviously, for a large part of my career, I haven’t been considered for the national team.

“To have the recognition, it would be a huge honour to be amongst those players, to be recognised by the country. I mean, of course, every player wants to make their nation proud and to do something for their country.

“So, I’m no different in that regard. I hope it happens, but if it doesn’t happen, I’m quite happy and content with the way my career has been. And I’m happy at the moment.”
