Former Baroka FC and Kruger United captain Lehlohonolo Nonyane has joined a new club, Phezulu FC, in the SAFA Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League.

The 38-year-old has been without a club since July 2025. This follows his departure from Kruger at the end of the last campaign.

In the last term, Nonyane led Kruger with aplomb, helping the side finish in fifth position in the Motsepe Foundation Championship log standings. This was after the club accumulated 45 points after 30 matches.

As a result, they missed out on a place in the PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs on the last day of the 2024/25 season.

ABC MOTSEPE LEAGUE SIDE PHEZULU FC ROPE IN EXPERIENCED DEFENDER LEHLOHONOLO NONYANE

The experienced centre-back has resurfaced at the Mpumalanga club, Phezulu. He was in action for their ABC Motsepe League tie against Young Boys over the weekend.

The game between Phezulu and Young Boys was played this past Saturday. The encounter ended in a 0-0 draw at Silobela Stadium in Carolina, Mpumalanga.

Nonyane’s signing accompanied by his experience from the Betway Premiership and Motsepe Foundation Championship is expected to bolster Phezulu’s defensive options.

The ambitious amateur club will be hoping to rely on Nonyane’s knowledge of the beautiful game to help them challenge for the league title. With God’s grace, gain promotion to the SA second-tier.

The veteran defender also turned out for teams in the SA top-flight. This include clubs like Bidvest Wits, Jomo Cosmos, Mpumalanga Black Aces, Golden Arrows, to mention a few.

As things stand, Phezulu is placed second in Stream A of their provincial ABC Motsepe League. They have collected seven points from three outings. They are just two points behind stream leaders Middelburg United.

The club’s next league assignment will be against Witbank City Lads FC on Saturday, 1 November 2025. This showdown will take place at Secunda Stadium, with the kickoff set for 15:00.
