Former Bidvest Wits midfielder Phumlani Ntshangase has disclosed how he is juggling life in the ABC Motsepe League after signing for the KZN side, Summerfield Dynamos.
The 30-year-old joined the SAFA KZN ABC Motsepe League club with the aim of reviving his football career after spending almost a year on the sidelines.
Ntshangase has been without a club since October 2022 following his departure from the Motsepe Foundation Championship side, Highbury FC.
The experienced defensive midfielder has already hit the ground running at Summerfield, having made his debut during their 0-0 draw in the Motsepe League [Stream A] encounter against Njampela FC on Friday, 17 October, at SJ Smith Stadium in Mobeni, Durban.

PHUMLANI NTSHANGASE OPENS UP ON HOW HIS SETTLING IN ABC MOTSEPE LEAGUE
Ntshangase, who was part of Wits’ historic first-ever PSL title win in the 2016/17 season revealed that he’s still trying to find himself in the South African third-tier league because this is his first time playing in an amateur league.
“Well, joining a new club is not something new in my life. You know I have been changing teams in my career. But it’s always a good feeling for a player to find a place where they can train and play games every weekend. So, that was obviously the goal for me in joining Summerfield,” said Ntshangase in a exclusive interview with FARPost.
“To be honest, it’s the first time I am playing in the ABC Motsepe League, and I don’t know anything about it. So, I’m still trying to get used to it and adjust to the conditions. But Summerfield is a good team and well-structured. They always want to win the league.
“I still want to play. At the age I am now, I can still contribute to football. I mean, I’m only 30 years old, and a lot of people always think I’m 33 or 35, which I’m not.
“One of my reasons was that if I still want to play, I need to keep moving. I cannot just stay at home, go to the gym, and train individually while hoping that I will get something. It’s very difficult for professional footballers to perform when they train on their own.”
