Orlando Pirates have provided a positive injury update on centre-back Thabiso Sesane and midfielder Selaelo Rasebotja as matches are coming thick and fast for the club.
The duo picked up injuries in the second round of the previous Betway Premiership, which also saw them sidelined for the opening matches of the 2025/26 season.
Last season, Sesane was one of the key players for Pirates in defence after forming a solid combination with Olisa Ndah, who is also nursing an injury. The Pirates development product played a pivotal role when the Buccaneers won the 2024 MTN8 final with a 3-1 victory over Stellenbosch FC. Before picking up an injury, the 25-year-old featured in 29 appearances across all competitions and chipped in with two assists.
On the other hand, Rasebotja sustained a long-term injury towards the end of last season, having joined the club in July 2024. The talented midfielder signed with Pirates on a free transfer from the now-defunct SuperSport United, who recently sold their top-flight status to Siwelele FC.
THABISO SESANE AND SELAELO RASEBOTJA NEARING RETURN TO FULL FITNESS

In his first season in the colours of the Sea Robbers, Rasebotja played 11 matches in all competitions before suffering the injury setback.
With Pirates expected to be one of the competitive sides in the current season, they confirmed that Sesane and Rasebotja are making a positive return to full fitness.
“There are no fresh injury concerns despite a highly physical clash on Saturday, while the likes of Selaelo Rasebotja and Thabiso Sesane continue to work their way back to full fitness after their injury spells,” Pirates said on their website.
This past weekend, the Soweto giants crashed out of the CAF Champions League Second Preliminary Round after losing 5-4 on penalties against DRC club Saint Eloi-Lupopo at Orlando Stadium.
