Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has given his honest take on the club’s third kit, which was introduced to the public in a Carling Knockout Cup match against Magesi FC.

The Buccaneers defeated Magesi 2-1 in the quarter-final of the Carling Cup at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday night to progress to the semi-final of the competition.

Pirates produced an impressive display against the Limpopo-based side and found the back of the net through in-form Tshepang Moremi and Evidence Makgopa.

On the other hand, Magesi netted a consolation goal from a set piece courtesy of talented defender Lehlogonolo Mokone in the dying minutes of the match. In a match that saw Pirates recover from their elimination from the CAF Champions League preliminary round by Saint Eloi-Lupopo, the Sea Robbers debuted their 3rd kit at home. The Soweto giants used the new blue and black jersey instead of their usual black and white kit used in home matches.

Speaking after the victory over Magesi, Ouaddou admitted that the jersey is beautiful but revealed that he would have loved to use the usual home kit. “I think it’s beautiful, but the colours…, I think we would have loved to play with our black, but yeah,” Ouaddou briefly said to the journalists.

Meanwhile, Pirates will shift their focus to the league action with a mouth-watering clash against reigning Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Ghosts will travel to Loftus Versfeld Stadium to face Sundowns, aiming to increase their chances of winning the elusive league title.

In the current campaign, the two clubs have already met in the two-legged semi-final, where Pirates won 4-1 on penalties after the encounter finished 1-1 on aggregate. After brushing Sundowns aside, Pirates went on to beat Stellenbosch FC 3-0 in the final to lift the trophy for the fourth time in a row.
