Mbabane Highlanders AM coach Ernest Mavuso has opened up about his working relationship with former Royal AM chairman Andile Mpisane at the Eswatini side.
This comes after Highlanders announced that they have joined forces with Shauwn Mkhize, the mother of Andile Mpisane, naming her as the club’s new president in July this year. This move saw the club change its name to Mbabane Highlanders AM.
This follows Royal AM’s expulsion from the South African football top-flight [PSL] after MaMkhizeโs tax evasion cases with the South African Revenue Service [SARS]. Mpisane served as the club’s chairman and a player at the time.
Mpisane, who only represented the clubs [Royal Eagles, Real Kings, and Royal AM] owned by his mother in his football career, was roped in by the Eswatini side after MaMkhize took over as the president of Highlanders.
The 24-year-old, Mpisane, made his debut for Highlanders on Saturday, 18 October, coming on as a second-half substitute in their 2-0 win over Manzini Sea Birds.

‘HEโS AN EASY-GOING’: SAYS COACH MAVUSO ON MPISANE
Mavuso stated that Mpisane is a dedicated individual who contributes positively to the club, citing that his PSL experience benefits the team.
โHeโs an easy-going, focused young man. His PSL experience helps, and he fits in well with the rest of the squad. The chemistry in the team is growing every day,” said Mavuso.
“Weโve made good progress as a team, though weโre still working to reach our full potential.
“Our supporters have been amazing, we just ask that everyone celebrates responsibly and keeps that same positive energy on Sunday.โ
The club’s next league encounter will be against Manzini Wanderers on Sunday, 2 November, at Mavuso Sports Centre. The kick off for this showdown is at 16:30.
