Sekhukhune United winger Keletso Makgalwa has likened their Betway Premiership run this season to that of English Premier League history makers Leicester City FC.
‘Babina Noko’ have had a flying start to the 2025/26 season under coach Eric Tinkler. They currently occupy second position on the log, just a point behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, but the Limpopo side has a game in hand.
Just like Sundowns, Sekhukhune have only suffered one defeat so far, in the nine games played.
Makgalwa, who has also regained his form in recent games, has made reference to the success of Leicester City during the 2015/16 season. During that season, Leicester shocked the football world, clinching their first-ever title under the guidance of Claudio Ranieri.
They only lost three matches that season, beating the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City to the title.
SEKHUKHUNE UNITED STAR MAKE REFERENCE TO THE LEICESTER CITY SHOCK LEAGUE TRIUMPH
Speaking to FARPost before the FIFA International break, Makgalwa believes Sekhukhune’s current squad this season has the qualities to cause an upset.

“If Leicester can do it, we can also do it, you know. It’s a talk among us that we can do it,” he told FARPost.
“We have a good squad, we have experience and the young ones. So I think it’s possible, we can do it.”
WHY KELETSO MAKGALWA BELIEVES SOUTH AFRICAN FOOTBALL IS ON THE RISE
Makgalwa is also of the view that the standard of South African Football is on the rise, given how Bafana Bafana are also performing on the international stage.
“We are going somewhere as a country, and I think we have improved a lot,” he said.
“If you look at Bafana, 90 per cent of the players that are there are in the PSL. So it means we are going somewhere and we are improving.”
