Prosport International football agent Mike Makaab has commented on the transfer rumours surrounding Kaizer Chiefs attacker Wandile Duba.
The talented forward reportedly attracted interest in the previous transfer window, having proven to be one of the PSL’s promising young talents. Duba came through the Amakhosi’s DStv Diski Challenge side before gaining promotion to the first team in the Betway Premiership in January 2023.
The Lenasia-born striker has been making a steady rise at Chiefs, scoring some important goals whenever he’s called upon in the starting line-up. Duba played a crucial role in the previous season as Chiefs clinched the 2025 Nedbank Cup, beating Orlando Pirates in the final to end their long-standing trophy drought.
In the last campaign, the 21-year-old featured in 25 matches across all competitions, scoring five goals and chipping in with three assists under head coach Nasreddine Nabi, who parted ways with the Chiefs a few weeks ago.
MIKE MAKAAB CONFIRMS THAT DUBA HAD INTEREST FROM SAUDI ARABIA
Wandile Duba has had a slow start to the 2025/26 season, as he’s competing with experienced attackers, Khanyisa Mayo, Etiosa Ighodaro, Flavio Silva, and Ashley Du Preez for a place in the starting line-up. The pacey youngster has featured in eight appearances, and he’s yet to open his scoring account for the season at the Naturena-based side.
Following widespread rumours about Duba’s future at Chiefs in the past window, his agent, Mike Makaab, has confirmed that there was interest from Saudi Arabia.
“Yes, there was interest in Wandile Duba from Saudi Arabia, but the move didn’t materialise as the player is still with Kaizer Chiefs,” Makaab told FARPost.
After having a slow start to the season, Duba will be looking to have a change of fortunes and score goals to help the Glamour Boys fight for major trophies.
