Baroka FC ended their seven-match winless run with a 3-1 victory over Cape Town City FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, while Milford FC maintained their position at the summit of the table.
Bakgakga claimed a much-needed win against City at Mafori Mphahlele Stadium on Saturday as they aim to turn fortunes and climb up the table. The Limpopo-based side has had a challenging start to the 2025/26 season, which prompted the club to make changes in the coaching department.
A few weeks ago, Baroka placed head coach Dan Malesela on ‘special leave’ after struggling to guide the side to positive results.
After sidelining Malesela, Baroka appointed former AmaTuks coach Tlisane Motaung as the head coach, while Matsemela Thoka took over the assistant coach role. So far this season, Bakgakga have won one match, drawn one, and suffered seven defeats in 10 league matches played.
CAPE TOWN CITY STRUGGLE FOR CONSISTENT WINNING FORM IN THE SECOND DIVISION

On the other hand, Cape Town has also been struggling for a consistent winning form in the Championship after being relegated from the Betway Premiership last season. The Citizens have registered two wins, three draws, and lost on four occasions in nine matches played so far.
Elsewhere, Milford maintained their position at the top of the table after playing to a 1-1 draw against Leicesterford City FC. The KZN-based outfit has collected 20 points in 10 games, having secured six wins, two draws, and two defeats.
