The road to continental glory has been laid out for South Africa’s representatives: Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Stellenbosch FC as the three clubs have earned their group stage opponents following the 2025/26 CAF interclub draw.
The draw for the Champions League and Confederation Cup group stages was held at the SuperSport Studios in Johannesburg on Monday, 03 November 2025.
This follows the successful conclusion of the preliminary rounds for both CAF interclub competitions, which began in September of this year.
A total of 16 clubs progressed to the group stage of both competitions, which will kick off in November 2025.
The CAF draw commenced at 13:00 [SA time], starting with the Confederation Cup, which was followed by the CAF Champions League draw.
WHO ARE CHIEFS, SUNDOWNS, AND STELLENBOSCH OPPONENTS IN THE CAF INTERCLUB GROUP STAGE
Mamelodi Sundowns are pitted in Group C of the CAF Champions League with Al Hilal SC, MC Alger, and FC St Eloi Lupopo. They humiliated Remo Stars of Nigeria, winning 7-1 on aggregate to cruise into the Champions League group phase.
In the last term, Bafana Ba Style lost in the final of the Champions League to Egyptian club, Pyramids FC. The Miguel Cardoso-coached side succumbed to a 3-2 loss to Pyramids on aggregate, ending their dream of securing their second star.
On the other hand, Amakhosi are in Group D of the Confederation Cup alongside Zamalek SC, Al Masry, and Zesco United.
The Glamour Boys qualified for the Confederation Cup group stage after securing a 3-1 win over the Democratic Republic of Congo side, AS Simba, on an aggregate scoreline.
Meanwhile, Stellenbosch are drawn in Group C of the Confederation Cup with CR Belouizdad, AS Otoho, and Singida Black Stars.
This comes after the Cape Winelands-based side booked their group stage spot following a 4-1 aggregate win over 15 de Agosto of Equatorial Guinea.
