It was another weekend nothing short of drama in the ABC Motsepe League, with SAFA KZN side Dlangezwa Hellenic FC venting frustration at match officials who handled their match against Umvoti FC over the weekend.
This comes after Dlangezwa Hellenic succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Umvoti in their Stream A match on Saturday, 1 November, at Greytown High School within the Greytown rural suburb of KZN.
Dlangezwa Hellenic expressed how disappointed they are with the officiating and felt that their side was hard done by the referee’s decisions, most of which were against them.
The club insists that the referee should have handled the game fairly and made the right calls, claiming that both goals scored by Umvoti were offside.

“The Man of the Match award against Umvoti Football Club goes to the match officials! We were playing against 13 men. Both of their goals were clearly offside. The Umvoti FC goalkeeper received a yellow card for time-wasting, but when he repeated the offense, the referee gave a yellow card to one of their defenders instead of issuing a second yellow to the goalkeeper,” said the club in a statement.
“To add insult to injury, the referee added 2 minutes of extra time but blew the final whistle in under 30 seconds! Our second official was against us all the time.”
