Knowledge Musona in action for Scottland FC

Knowledge Musona and Khama Billiat have won their first major title in Zimbabwe after Scottland FC clinched the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title with two games to spare.

The former Kaizer Chiefs duo played a crucial role in their team’s success so far, with Musona scoring three goals and Billiat contributing two goals and several assists.

Scottland FC’s victory marks a remarkable achievement for the club, which is only one of a few teams to win the league title in their debut season.

They join Black Rhinos FC, who achieved this feat in 1984. With 65 points, Scottland FC lead the table, with a unassailable seven points ahead of second-placed, MWOS FC.

BILLIAT SCORES AS SCOTTLAND FC WIN LEAGUE TITLE IN MAIDEN SEASON

Going into Matchday 32 against Kwekwe United, they needed a win to be sure of winning the title. And they emphatically claimed it to officially confirm their 2025 title win.

They beat Kwekwe United 5-1 at Ascot Stadium in Gweru on Sunday. Billiat opened the scoring after 29 minutes. Four minutes later, Tymon Machope doubled their lead.

Additionally, Ronald Pfumbidzai scored their third in the 70th minute. Tadiwa Chakuchichi scored their fourth goal in the 90th minute. Machope completed his brace in injury time with a penalty in added time.

In addition, the league title win means they will represent Zimbabwe in the 2026/27 CAF Champions League.

The Tonderai Ndiraya-coached side will face Green Fuel FC and TelOne FC in the last two matches of the season.

Undoubtedly, Musona’s experience, gained from playing in Europe and the Middle East, has been invaluable to Scottland FC. The duo is eager to make history in the twilight of their careers.

Billiat and Musona now hope to ignite the stage when Zimbabwe features at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, which could be their last major tournament for The Warriors.

Former PSL stars Terrence Dzvukamanja, Talbert Shumba, Khuda Muyaba, Kevin Moyo, and Ronald Pfumbidzai are part of the winning team. Lincoln Zvasiya, formerly a Chiefs defender, is part of the Scottland FC technical team.

Meanwhile, voting for the best players of the season will take place on November 25, with Walter Musona, Knowledge’s younger brother and Scottland FC’s captain, tipped to be one of the award winners.

As Scottland FC basks in the glory of their title win, they will be looking to maintain their form in the remaining two matches of the season. The team’s debut season has been an incredible journey, and they will be eager to end it on a high note.
