Former Kaizer Chiefs star Knowledge Musona has been hailed as the mastermind behind Scottland FC‘s historic 2025 Zimbabwe PSL title win.

The 35-year-old forward, affectionately known as ‘The Smiling Assassin’, joined the club in July after a stint in the Saudi Pro League, where he played for Al Tai, Al Riyadh, and Al-Akhdoud between August 2021 and June 2025.

His impressive profile also boasts of experience gained in Germany and Belgium. Musona’s return to Zimbabwe proved to be a game-changer for Scottland FC. He has contributed three crucial goals so far and is poised to add more in the remaining two games of the season.

However, Scottland FC coach Tonderai Ndiraya attributed the team’s success to Musona’s arrival, praising his leadership and stability on and off the pitch.

“Once we brought in new players, we knew that we were on course. And then I would specifically want to single out Knowledge Musona.

“He brought in a lot of stability in our team. A lot of leadership, which was probably lacking in the first half of the season. Not that we didn’t have leaders, but Knowledge came with some more quality in leadership than on the pitch,” Ndiraya said.

Ndiraya credited Musona’s impact to a specific turning point in the season. “So that then took us to where we are. And I personally feel that the turning point was when we won against Manica Diamonds at Rufaro Stadium,” he added.

“We were coming from a defeat against the Highlanders in the Chibuku Super Cup match. And for us to bounce back and win that match under so much pressure sent a very clear message to our rivals.”

The coach also highlighted the significance of other matches, including the encounter against MWOS FC. “Then we had to manage things until the end. And then of course the match against MWOS FC, a big one, set the tone for us.”

Scottland FC’s maiden season in Zimbabwe’s top-flight has been nothing short of remarkable, with the team clinching the league title โ€“ a feat last achieved four decades ago.

In addition, Musona’s experience and leadership has undoubtedly played a pivotal role in the team’s success, and their final two games will put icing on the cake.
