Football agent, Mike Makaab, has shared details on Kobamelo Kodisang’s loan move from Mamelodi Sundowns to Portuguese top-flight side AVS Futebol SAD.

The talented winger left Masandawana in the previous transfer window to join AVS in search of regular game-time. Kodisang spent one season at Sundowns after joining the club at the start of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership.

The Bafana Bafana international initially arrived at Sundowns from another Portuguese club, Moreirense FC. He enjoyed a successful spell at the club in Europe after netting 14 goals and six assists in 67 appearances in two seasons.

After arriving at the Brazilians as a marquee signing, he struggled to break into the starting line-up, leading to a loan move back to Europe. In his one season at Sundowns, Kodisang played 13 matches in all competitions, scoring two goals and chipping in with two assists.

His agent has explained that AVS has the first option to secure the 26-year-old on a permanent move if they are impressed with his services.

“Kobamelo Kodisang just returned from injury, and he started the match for his new club [against Santa Clara in Liga Portugal on 25 October] and played 70 minutes. He’s moving in the right direction, which is important,” Makaab told FARPost.

“We all know that Kodisang, at his best, is a super-talented player, and I think the move to Portugal is perfect for him. He’s been there before; he’s going home away from home.

“The club he’s playing for is struggling at the moment, but they have an option to make the deal permanent. So the option sits with the club in Portugal. If that doesn’t happen, then he’s a Mamelodi Sundowns player; he will come back to South Africa.”
