Kaizer Chiefs defender Inacio Miguel has revealed how they plan to navigate through the CAF Confederation Cup group phase.
Amakhosi were pooled in Group D alongside Egyptian giants Zamalek, ZESCO United and Al Masry. They are bidding to win a continental trophy for the first time since lifting the then CAF Cup Winners’ Cup in 2001.
Having almost been crowned African champions by reaching the 2020/21 CAF Champions League final, Chiefs could be fancying their chances in the Confederation Cup. The 2020/21 run came amid an uninspiring campaign on the domestic scene.
They are currently inconsistent at home but would want to make a mark in Africa. Currently placed fourth on the Betway Premiership table, Chiefs are still within a chance to win the title, should they revive themselves.
It is a season they could seal a table by winning the PSL title, Confederation Cup and the Nedbank Cup.
WHAT IS CHIEFS’ STRATEGY IN THE CONFEDERATION CUP?

Vice captain Miguel has disclosed what the Soweto giants intend to do in Africa to boost their chances of advancing to the knockouts. The Angola international centre-back emphasises winning all their home games to hand themselves a chance in this tournament.ย
โOf course, we are expecting very difficult games. You know at this time there are no easy games,โ said Miguel.ย
โWe are in the midst of the best teams in Africa, so expect to work hard and represent the country well. Definitely in these kind of games, all the games are important, away and home games.
โBut we are aware that getting a good result at home and trying to do our best in these games away, it will be very difficult, of course. But the most important thing is to bring good results away, and we do our best at home.โ
The Confederation Cup group stage kicks off on the weekend of November 21 to 23.
