Mtshamba and Mohlabane join Sundowns

talent scout and coach Carlos Mtshamba of the Carlos Academy to join Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns have acquired the services of talent scout and coach Carlos Mtshamba of the Carlos Academy, further bolstering its scouting network. Mtshamba joins the club alongside former SuperSport United Academy Administrator, Bianca Mohlabane, who is expected to fill the same role.

The club has also added two more scouts as they strengthen that department. For Mtshamba, the move comes just three weeks after he returned from an insightful stint in Scotland.

The East London-based mentor, celebrated for discovering Aphelele Teto and Mohlabane, were introduced to Sundownsโ€™ staff at the clubโ€™s Chloorkop headquarters on Wednesday.

Mtshamba spent two weeks immersed in the operations of Livingston FC, the very club that secured his former protรฉgรฉ, Teto. The Scottish top-flight side signed Teto from TS Galaxy three years ago.

However, they struggled to secure a visa for him to play football at the West Lothian club. This trip was specifically undertaken to learn the intricacies of running a professional football club, knowledge that will now undoubtedly be channelled into his new role with the Brazilians.

A former head coach for the Chippa United DStv Diski Challenge side last season, Mtshambaโ€™s reputation for unearthing top footballing talents precedes him.

CARLOS MTSHAMBAโ€™S FUTURE BASE UNCLEAR

Although the deal is confirmed, the details about Mtshambaโ€™s long-term base remain unclear. It is still uncertain whether his new role will require him to relocate to Johannesburg or if he will continue working from his long-standing base in East London.

On the other hand, Mohlabane is expected to bring her many years of experience from Matsatsantsa to the Sundowns set-up. At the now-defunct SuperSport, she also doubled up as DDC co-ordinator, an experience that will be vital in her new role.

Indications are that there will be more changes in the Masandawanaโ€™s youth structures in the next couple of days.
