Sekhukhune United coach Eric Tinkler has issued an update on the recovery of club captain Linda Mntambo and the unavailability of Thabang Monare.

Mntambo had a fractured ankle and was expected to be out of action for at least three months.

The 36-year-old sustained the injury on 13 August against TS Galaxy during a Betway Premiership tie at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

Following the 1-1 draw against Richards Bay FC in Polokwane on Tuesday, Tinkler confirmed that Mntambo has since returned to training.

WHY THABANG MONARE WAS MISSING FOR SEKHUKHUNE UNITED AGAINST RICHARDS BAY

Meanwhile, midfielder Thabang Monare was also missing in action against Richards Bay on Tuesday. The 36-year-old suffered an injury during the clubโ€™s 1-0 loss to Siwelele last month.

“Monare is injured. He picked up an injury during the Siwelele game, so that’s why Miguel [Timm] started today,โ€ he explained.

“Linda [Mntambo] has started [training] with us. We have been away now for five or six days. But he started a week ago with us.

โ€œLinda should be back within the next two weeks. So he is actually now training with the first team. He is not only doing rehab.”

ERIC TINKLER WAITING ON FULL UPDATE ON KELETSO MAKGALWA INJURY

Meanwhile, winger Keletso Makgalwa was substituted after only 24 minutes into the match against Richards Bay due to an injury. Tinkler couldnโ€™t confirm the seriousness of the injury until a full medical assessment had been conducted.

“Obviously, Keletso is an important player to us. So losing him that early in the game was obviously a loss. Normally, these things are 24 hours, then we will see when we get the results.โ€

Sekhukhune have now dropped to third on the Betway Premiership with 21 points from 11 games so far.
