Casric Stars reclaimed the top spot in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with a 1-0 win against Upington City FC at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium, while Cape Town City FC defeated Black Leopards.
The Mpumalanga-based side returned to winning ways on Friday, ending their three-match winless run. In the last three league games, Casric drew two successive games against Gomora United and Venda FC, and lost to Highbury FC.
Before collecting maximum points against Upington City, Casric Stars last tasted a victory when they beat Hungry Lions FC on the 19th of October. Following their positive results against Bafana Ba Gucci, Casric moved to the summit of the table with 22 points in 11 matches. They leapfrogged Milford FC, who played to a goalless draw against Gomora United at Umhlathuze Sports Complex on Saturday.
Elsewhere, Cape Town City FC defeated Black Leopards 1-0 at Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday, thanks to a goal from Jody Ah Shene. After their slender victory over the Limpopo-based side, the Citizens moved to the 13th position with 12 points in 10 outings.
So far, CT City have won three matches, drawn three, and suffered defeats four times since being relegated to the NFD at the end of last season.
