Chiefs end winless streak as Pirates further cement top spot

Kazier Chiefs DDC celebrate gaol

The DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] defending champions, Kaizer Chiefs, have put a stop to their prolonged winless streak after defeating Polokwane City FC 3-0 at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto on Sunday.

The Soweto giants’ reserve team approached the match-day having not won a game in almost two months. Following their 3-2 triumph over Stellenbosch FC 3-2 in September, Chiefs had endured a seven-game winless run.

Their 3-0 victory over Polokwane City marks only their third victory in 10 games.

The victory was a prophetic development that validated assistant coach Dillon Sheppardโ€™s pre-match assertions.

โ€œThere’s no doubt we will bounce back, there’s no doubt about that. There are three games left now before the trip. We will focus on our performances, and the results will be sorted,โ€ Sheppard had said.

Following Sundayโ€™s crucial win, the Glamour Boys climbed significantly on the log table, moving four places from 11th up to seventh. Conversely, their opponents, Rise and Shine, dropped two spots from ninth to 11th.

The Durban side suffered their second successive loss, where they conceded three goals. They currently sit in 14th place, with only nine points in the bag.

In other noticeable results, Chippa United defeated TS Galaxy in a staggering eight-goal thriller. The Chilly Boys walloped TS Galaxy 6-2 at the Gelvandale Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.
