Former Orlando Pirates defender Katlego Ramonyai has joined Hout Bay United in the SAFA Western Cape ABC Motsepe Leagueย for the 2025/26 season.

In the last campaign, the talented centre-back was on loan at Durban City FC, when they were still competing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. He had joined the KwaZulu-Natal side on loan from Pirates.

However, for the ongoing campaign, he finds himself on the books of amateur side Hout Bay United, coached by former mentor of the Pirates development side and Mamelodi Sundowns set-piece coach, Michael Loftman.

‘Okonkwo’, as he is popularly known within football circles, made a name for himself while representing the Soweto giants’ DStv Diski Challenge side before joining PSL side Venda FC on loan in the 2021/22 season.

HOUT BAY UNITED’S OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON ACQUISITION OF KATLEGO RAMONYAI

Hout Bay United welcomed Ramonyai with open arms and believes the player will add much-needed value to the club, given his experience in the DStv Diski Challenge and Motsepe Foundation Championship.

“Weโ€™re delighted to confirm the signing of defender Katlego Ramonyai! Welcome, Katlego,” said the ABC Motsepe League club Hout Bay United in a statement on Monday.

The club anticipates that Ramonyai will be able to help them challenge for the league title. This is with the aim of qualifying for the SAFA ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs. Hopefully, gain promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship next season.

Discarded by Mamelodi Sundowns, striker Jerome Karelse found a fresh start and a key platform at Hout Bay United. His revival was complete when he secured a move to Betway Premiership club Golden Arrows at the beginning of the current season.

Karelse has made 12 appearances for Abafana Bes’thende across all competitions since signing for the KZN side this term. He has scored two goals and provided two assists under the tutelage of Manqoba Mngqithi.
