Former PSL star Kgaogelo Sekgota has revealed the words of advice former Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns star Lerato Chabangu offered to him when they met at rehab.
Both Chabangu and Sekgota were recently admitted to the Hope of Achievers Rehabilitation Centre outside Polokwane.
Just like Sekgota, Chabangu struggled with alcohol abuse that led him to be admitted to the Centre.
Following months of rehabilitation, the two players have since completed the process. While Sekgota has now resurfaced at SAFA Limpopo ABC Motsepe League side Tubatse United, it’s unclear what Chabangu’s next path will be.

“Lerato was there with me; he’s a good brother to me, and he was advising me,” Sekgota told FARPost.
“Actually, we were training almost every day in the morning together. He was helping me in terms of motivation and mental recovery. He is a good brother, and having him around was important for me to get a little bit of experience with him.”

“One thing that he told me was that, in life, you are there for yourself and people will say whatever they say,” added Sekgota.
“After mistakes, people will always judge you, but as a person, you have to stand out and fight for yourself and your talent. He told me that I still have time, and I still have to give South Africa what I am capable of.”
Sekgota also shared some advice to all the young aspiring players to be more responsible and take care of their careers.
“In life, being responsible for anything that is happening to you is very important,” added the 28-year-old.
