Upington City FC boss David Mogashoa has shared his perspective on the explosive allegations made by Black Leopards owner David Thidiela against PSL chairman Irvin Khoza.
Mogashoa’s intervention follows the highly publicised and scathing attack launched by the Leopards FC owner Thidiela against Khoza, who is also the chairman of Orlando Pirates.
Thidiela, during a robust live interview on Radio 2000 a day ago, accused Khoza of operating as an “authoritarian leader” and a dictator, who maintains a tight and uncompromising grip on the governance of the league.
The core of Thidiela’s anger stems from the PSL’s handling of Lidoda Duvha’s acquisition of the status of All Stars FC. This transaction took place following Black Leopards’ relegation from the Motsepe Foundation Championship during the 2022/23 campaign.
Crucially, Thidiela asserts that this acquisition left the club with problems, notably leading to a crippling FIFA transfer ban after Black Leopards failed to settle payments owed to some of the acquired players.

Beyond the immediate club issues, Thidiela expressed deep dissatisfaction with the league’s top leadership structure. He raised the perennial issue of conflict of interest, arguing that Khoza’s dual role as both PSL chairman and chairman of Pirates is untenable.
Thidiela also voiced his displeasure over the longevity of Golden Arrows owner Mato Madlala’s position as the PSL acting CEO, a post she has held for an astonishing 10 years.
Mogashoa, who is one of the 32 PSL club members, expressed his views on social media regarding Thidiela’s comments about Khoza. He stated that the PSL chairman does a great job and has been instrumental in rescuing the league multiple times.
“Fact Dr Khoza is doing a good job. When Glad Africa Sponsorship went south, Dr Khoza “Dictated” to Dr Practice Motsepe that he must please sponsor NFD,” wrote the Upington City boss Mogashoa on his official X account on Thursday.
“That was done through a phone call. I don’t know anyone else in the BoG with that kind of power. Once again! Dr Khoza saved the day.”
