With his tenure at Marumo Gallants drawing to a close, goalkeeper Washington Arubi’s next move has been revealed as he nears the twilight of his career.
The 40‑year‑old, affectionately known as ‘Sekuru Gudo’ for his brilliance between the posts, will see his contract with Gallants expire in June 2026.
According to FARPost sources, Arubi will join Scottland FC after the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season. Scottland FC is a Zimbabwean side that boasts former Kaizer Chiefs stars Knowledge Musona and Khama Billiat.
Scottland FC won the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title and will represent Zimbabwe in the 2026/27 CAF Champions League. Eager to strengthen their goalkeeping department ahead of the continental campaign, the club has been courting Arubi, hoping his experience will bolster their Champions League line-up.

But before any transfer details are finalised, a larger milestone awaits. After more than two decades of waiting, Arubi is set to make his AFCON debut in Morocco next month, becoming one of the oldest goalkeepers ever to wear the Warriors’ jersey at the tournament.
Arubi’s international journey began in August 2005, when he earned his first cap for Zimbabwe. He has amassed 30 caps, featuring in the COSAFA Cup, AFCON qualifiers and FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Although Zimbabwe qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2004, 2006, 2017, 2019 and 2021 – exiting in the group stage each time – the Gallants shot‑stopper was repeatedly overlooked for the final squad.
In the PSL, Arubi has represented Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila [TTM], AmaTuks and SuperSport United. His leadership behind the line and calm demeanour are expected to inspire younger teammates, giving Scottland FC a solid foundation for a Champions League run.
So far this season, Arubi has been on the pitch 15 times – 12 of those outings have come in the Betway Premiership, and the remaining three in the Carling Knockout Cup.
