Former Sekhukhune United left-back Cameron Carnell has resurfaced at Motsepe Foundation Championship side Black Leopards, FARPost has learnt.

Carnell is the nephew of former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs left-back Bradley Carnell, who was recently named MLS coach of the year with Philadelphia Union.

The 23-year-old Cameron Carnell has turned out for clubs such as Sekhukhune, now-defunct Bidvest Wits and Maritzburg United [renamed Durban City FC]. He spent the past two seasons at Sekhukhune United but was unfortunately released upon the arrival of head coach Eric Tinkler.

WHAT IS CAMERON CARNELL DOING AT MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP SIDE?

This publication spotted the left-footed player among players on trial at the clubโ€™s training base in Polokwane, Limpopo. However, it is unclear what the next move will be, as new coach Mabhuti Khenyeza only began his tenure a few days ago.

Carnell is likely to spend a few days training with the side before the new technical team, led by Khenyeza, makes a decision.

BLACK LEOPARDS ARE UNABLE TO SIGN PLAYERS DUE TO THEIR FIFA BAN

As it stands, Black Leopards are unable to sign any players due to the FIFA ban, which became effective on 9 October 2025.

This has also resulted in a delay in signing experienced striker Judas Moseamedi. As FARPost reportedย earlier, Moseamedi has been training with the club for a while and has reportedly impressed.

However, he will still have to wait a bit longer before he can officially join the Limpopo side.

Leopards, who are currently third from bottom of the second-tier league, will return to action after the FIFA International break on Friday, 21 November.

They will be hoping the arrival of Khenyeza will turn things around following a string of poor results. They have collected seven points out of a possible 15 in their last five games.
